Sea Window
Privacy Policy
Plain language, no legalese. This is everything Sea Window does with your data. Sea Window is built by a solo developer, Lonka Pardhu. There is no data team, no ad network, and no interest in your data beyond making the app work.
Your account
Sea Window needs an account. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your email address and name; when you sign up with email we hold that email address and a hashed password. They are stored with your account, hosted on Supabase, so your profile works across sign-ins. That is the only account data we hold.
Onboarding answers
The answers you give during onboarding (what you do on the water, trip length, how often you go out, the apps you use today, and which conditions matter to you) are saved to your profile so the app can tailor itself to how you go out on the water.
Location
Your location is used on your device to show conditions around you and to plan routes. When you request a forecast, the coordinates of that spot are sent to our weather service purely to fetch the forecast; we do not build a history of where you have been from those requests. If you record a trip, its track is saved on your device and, if you are signed in, synced to your account so you can see it on another device.
Routes, trips and settings
Routes you plan, trips you record, your units and your boat profile are stored on your device. If you are signed in, they are also mirrored to your account so they follow you between devices. Deleting your account removes them from our servers.
Usage analytics
We use Mixpanel to understand how the app is used: which screens are opened, which features are used, and where onboarding is abandoned. These events are tied to a random device identifier and, if you sign in, to your account, so we can see how the app performs for real users. They are used only to improve Sea Window and are never sold or used for advertising.
Crash reporting
We use Sentry to find out about crashes so they can be fixed. All text and images in crash reports are masked, so what you see on screen (coordinates, routes, your details) is not readable in them.
Subscriptions
Payment is handled entirely by your app store, the Apple App Store or Google Play, through your store account. Superwall manages the paywall and subscription status and receives your account identifier for that purpose. When you subscribe, the store confirms it to Superwall and our server keeps a record of the subscription state (the plan, its start and expiry dates and a store transaction identifier) tied to your account, so the app can verify access. We never see or store your payment details.
Maps
Map tiles come from Mapbox. Mapbox telemetry is switched off in the app, so no location events are sent to Mapbox beyond the tiles it needs to draw the map you are looking at.
No ads, no data sales
Sea Window shows no ads. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Your choices
You can turn off location access at any time in your device settings; searched locations will still work. You can delete your account from the Account tab at any time, which permanently removes your account, profile and synced data.
